The new 25-story, 150,000 sq. ft. hotel includes 308 rooms and a double basement and consists of cast-in-place concrete supported on a mat foundation approximately 30 ft. below grade. This presented a challenge during the design of the necessary underpinning of the adjacent building and the support of the site during the excavation. In order to maximize floor to floor height and further reduce overall cost, the job was value engineered and the thickness of the tower slabs was reduced to 7 inches.
