Wexler Associates was retained to design the reuse of buildings 28 and 128 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. WA prepared the drawings and specifications for exposing and testing the existing structure and also conducted field observations and testing of the existing foundations and pilling. New floors were inserted into the existing structure and new columns with independent foundations were designed. Other existing columns were removed and replaced with new transfer girders in order to facilitate truck traffic. The project will also incorporate buildings 117 and 23 in the new scheme.
